Welcome to the Sanford Creek Elementary music website!!
Meet the Music Teacher My name is Emily Stanton and I have had the privilege of teaching music for 16 years in Wake County, North Carolina. I currently teach at Sanford Creek Elementary School. My love of music dates back as far as I can remember. I began taking piano lessons at 6 years old. I grew up in church and began singing in the children's choir in 2nd grade. In 3rd grade, I started playing the violin in orchestra at school. I landed my first role in a school musical when I was in 4th grade. I continued to be extremely involved with music in Chorus and drama in high school. I went to college at Truman State University and graduated in 2000 and again in 2003. I have the best job in the world because I not only teach the fundamentals of music but help students to view life thru a wider lens in order to see that music connects us all! I currently live in Rolesville, North Carolina with my husband and our two children. Some of my favorite things include going to the beach, dancing, jogging, bike riding, camping, gardening, and reading. Oh yes, and singing! your students are doing!! |

This video is an accurate representation of the way that your child is learning music at Sanford Creek. The main method is called the Orff Schulwerk approach! My favorite thing about this approach is the singing, thinking, listening, thinking, moving, and playing instruments that are incorporated into every lesson. I also love the scaffolding that this frame work provides. This model keeps students engaged 100% of the musical time! Ask your student what and how they are learning music! |
